Achy muscles are a pain, but also an unavoidable part of working out regularly. The opposite of working out — sitting all day — can also cause muscle tension. So what can you do? Your first thought might be to go for a massage (and we certainly wouldn’t say no to that!), but you should know that using a foam roller may provide similar benefits!
Rolling our muscles over these cylinders uses friction to release tension and realign the fascia — the connective tissue that holds our muscles in place. Studies have shown that foam rolling for a couple of minutes at a time can reduce stiffness, improve flexibility and lessen post-workout soreness. Also, it feels great!
